Meeting the Demands of Small Markets
The growth in demand for Voice over IP (VoIP) is driving networks to evolve and change almost every day. Subscribers are being added with no end in sight. But what happens to those smaller locations that will only grow to a few thousand subscribers? This paradox has created the need for a rapidly deployable, flexible solution that is cost eff ective. So what’s the answer?
Introducing SAFARI eMG
Recognizing this need, Cedar Point Communications has developed a Media Gateway (MG), SAFARI eMG, that delivers unparalleled flexibility and benefits to Network Operators of all sizes. SAFARI eMG delivers…- Best-of-breed media gateway featuring highest voice quality in the most compact, cost effective platform available
- Supports small market build outs for VoIP networks
- Connect to high density, cost effective SONET/SDH PSTN interface
- Meet the needs for VoIP Trunking, and VoIP Access Gateway markets
- Full redundancy
…all in a cost effective platform.
The SAFARI eMG delivers a compact MG solution that is targeted towards small market environments. Supporting up to 2,016 channels in a compact chassis the SAFARI eMG supports wireline, wireless, cable, broadband access and fixed-mobile-convergence applications. Building on Cedar Point Communications expertise in the VoIP market, the SAFARI eMG supports a rich variety of VoIP voice codecs, standards-compliant signaling and call control and state of the art echo cancellation. At a height of only 2U, the SAFARI eMG platform requires only minimal rack space saving operational costs.
Facilitate Flexible Deployments
SAFARI eMG immediately addresses both domestic and international opportunities that currently utilize a myriad of legacy, circuit-switched infrastructure features and functionalities. The SAFARI eMG communicates with the PSTN via TDM.
Built to be deployed in a SAFARI C³ network, SAFARI eMG uses a SAFARI C³ located in a Control Site to deliver call features, billing, call routing, and subscriber management services to the subscribers in the Control Site and in the Gateway Site. The SAFARI C³ located in the Control Site maintains subscriber database information to support these functions.

The SAFARI eMG serves as the interconnection point between the Gateway Site serving area and the PSTN for both incoming and outgoing calls. All calls that are local to the Gateway Site remain local, including on-net calls within the serving area and off -net calls that are configured to terminate in the SAFARI eMG. This high degree of flexibility saves time and money in both capital and operational expenditures.
Maximum Configuration and Cost Flexibility
SAFARI eMG provides network operators with the most flexibility, over competing solutions, when it comes to configurations and cost. Configurations are simple. Just configure a SAFARI C³ for the total number of subscribers needed for both the Control Site and the Gateway Site serving areas. And the cost will never exceed the total lines required to support both locations, regardless of how many SAFARI eMG’s are required.
